Upon discovering the world of danmei, I delved into other Chinese media such as novels and manhua (Chinese manga) and was pleasantly surprised to find that Chinese BL manhua is truly captivating, despite occasional generic tropes. My first encounter with their boys-love or BL (Chinese term is danmei) is when watching Chinese BL anime such as Mo Dao Zu Shi, The Emperor’s Strategy, and Spiritpact.
China has plenty of boys-love stories albeit it has been restricted in some ways.
